WELCOME TO MY SITE
LUMENPDX.COM - PORTLAND LIGHT
I call this my "new site," but it is really not all that new. What is new is the domain name: lumenpdx.com. Sadly, I had to retire my previous domain: monsignorpat.com. Technical difficulties forced me to move on, but I'm hopeful that, one day, I'll be able to resolve these difficulties and resurrect my old site.
My new site is lumenpdx.com (lumen means light; and pdx is Portland airport). I thought this new name appropriate because I'm from Portland, and my website is about photography (the word photograph means "written in light").

The original purpose of this website was to share my pictures with family and friends. Until recently, most of my pictures—on four external hard drives—were only mine to enjoy. With this website I want to change that. I hope you enjoy the pictures.
It took me some time to learn how to make a website (I'm no techie), but trial and error (with the simplicity of "click and drag") eventually got me going.
The pictures on these pages were taken with a variety of cameras, starting with my first digital camera—a 2.0 megapixel Olympus Brio in 2001—to my current full-frame Canon 6D, and my most recent camera, the Canon EOS M6 Mark II. But no matter the camera, I have found that composition is really what makes a great picture.

I use Adobe Lightroom and ON1 to develop and enhance the pictures. While I prefer using "a real camera" to take pictures, I will sometimes use my iPhone when there is nothing else around. And yes, the pictures we take with our phones are pretty good and getting even better!
