On the morning of June 15, 2016, we blessed our cathedral bells before they were lifted into the belfry. The bells had been in Lancaster, Ohio, for the previous 10 months, where they were repaired and restored. Originally cast in 1885, the bells were now ready for the next 100 years. A big difference is that the bells are now motorized and electronically controlled. A capital campaign raised over $200,000 to get the bells in working order. Now, they will ring out our Catholic presence in the city of Portland.
