In the spring of 1980, I was completing my graduate studies in biblical theology at the Gregorian University in Rome. I would be leaving Rome at the end of that semester. Given my timeline, my mother, Maria, and my/our cousin, Martha Majors, decided to make a trip to Vienna—my mother's birth place and home town, along with a visit to my mother's sister, Sr. Gervasia Stuhlberger, in Vöcklabruck (near Salzburg). I met my mother in Vienna, to see my uncles, Toni and Dolfi, and then to Volklabruck, to see Sr. Gervasia. After a lovely visit, my mom, Martha, and I, headed to Rome.
