In 2002, just home from my work at the North American College, I traveled east to Ohio to see my friend Msgr. Dennis Metzger. We headed north into Michigan, to a resort town on Lake Michigan, Charlevoix, and to Walloon Lake. Further north, we visited St. Ignace, where Fr. Jacques Marquette, S.J., is buried. Heading back to Ohio we crossed the famous Mackinac Bridge, and on to Bethlehem (to the Metzger family reunion) and finally to Toledo.
