I am a native Oregonian who attended high school and college at Mount Angel Seminary (1965-1973). I studied theology at the North American College and the Gregorian University in Rome (1973-1977; 1979-1980). I later studied Canon Law at The Catholic University of America (1983-1985). I was ordained a priest in 1977 and have held a number of positions in the Archdiocese of Portland: president-rector of Mount Angel Seminary, vicar for clergy, and presently, judicial vicar. I was appointed pastor of St. Mary's Cathedral in 2011. I retired from my position as pastor, but I am continuing as judicial vicar. The picture at left was taken on the Missouri River at Fort Benton, Montana, a favorite place of mine. Interestingly, one can travel from Fort Benton all the way to New Orleans by boat.
