All of these pictures were taken between 2002 and 2003 with my first digital camera, a 2.0 megapixel Canon Brio. It was exciting to take digital pictures and to download them to my Mac. I used the program that came with my camera—primitive by today's standards, but the pictures turned out pretty well. By any standard, the basilica is magnificent—one of the treasures of western civilization. And the open arms of the square embrace all visitors. "To the glory that was Greece, and the grandeur that was Rome" (Poe).
