I traveled to Glacier National Park in August, 2014. It was my second visit to the park, and I was more impressed the second time than I was the first. I really had only one day to visit the park, so I prayed for good weather. I was staying in Kalispel; and as I drove to the park, the sun rose brightly. But as I approached the park, low clouds and fog were hanging over the mountains. The pictures are arranged chronologically to show the different light at different times of the day: early morning (with fog and clouds), midday (bright sun), and early evening (sun with a few clouds). Virtually all of the pictures were taken on the 50 mile "Going to the Sun Road," an engineering masterpiece that is more safe than it looks! Other pictures were taken at Many Glacier Hotel and Swiftcurrent Lake (the picture at left). Click the pictures below for access: full color pictures, black and white versions, and something I call "enhanced" color—a bit fanciful, but beautiful nonetheless. Enjoy the pics!
