Stirling is important in Scottish history for its castle, Stirling Castle, and for the three important battles that took place in its vicinity: the Battle of Stirling Bridge, the Battle of Fallkirk, and the Battle of Bannockburn. William Wallace was involved in two of these battles, and King Robert the Bruce was in the third (Bannockburn). The monument to William Wallace rises just outside the city. Needless to say, we learned a lot about Scottish history here.
