We landed in Dublin, got our rental car (they gave us an upgrade: a Jaguar SUV!), and headed 30 miles north to the medieval town of Drogheda for our first night in Ireland. Drogheda is a small town, full of history, where the River Boyne enters into the Irish Sea. The town has maintained its medieval street structure, and it is full of colorful old buildings. Of note is the Boyne Viaduct, a railway bridge (left) built in 1855. We stayed at a nice, modern hotel (The D), and we had dinner at the hotel. A great first night!
