Cork is Ireland's second largest city, but it seems like a "big small town." It has a vibrant and welcoming atmosphere, and it is known for its fine food (the English Market is a major attraction). The city is built on reclaimed marshland between two arms of the River Lee (the name Cork is derived from the Irish "marshy place"). We spent two nights in Cork at a lovely, modern hotel, and we took trips outside the city. Founded by St. Finbar in 650 AD, we loved Cork!
