Bunratty Castle, near Limerick, is a beautifully preserved Tower House that gives a good sense of what it was like to live in a castle/house in the 16th century.. The structure was built in 1460 and restored in the 1950's. The furnishings and the tapestries date from the 14th to 17th centuries. The neighboring Folk Park is a nicely designed rendition of country life at the turn of the last century. A nice bit of time travel!
